Why Major in 工程?
Penn State developed the 工程 degree with the multidisciplinary 工程 design option in response to the evolving needs of companies in the Greater Philadelphia region and beyond. The curriculum offers a firm grounding in 工程 fundamentals, embraces multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary education, and integrates component solutions into a systems perspective.
The major incorporates advanced coursework in electrical 工程, computer 工程, mechanical 工程, and 工程 design to produce innovative engineers specializing in systems design and integration. The major also features several internship opportunities, allowing students to gain real-world experience.
In developing the bachelor of 工程 degree with the multidisciplinary 工程 design (MDE) option, Penn State has drawn upon its strengths as one of the premier institutions in 工程 education and research.
Graduation and Beyond
The Multidisciplinary 工程 Design (MDE) option provides graduates with a very broad background in math, 科学, 工程, and 工程 design, with an emphasis on team design that includes several 工程 disciplines. These skills are often associated with the design of large systems such as ships, 飞机, 汽车, 宇宙飞船, 机器人, and other complex systems that require the knowledge of several 工程 disciplines to complete a successful design.
